We are very excited over at Claytorials to be involved with such a talented crew of producers for custom videos, and look forward to seeing the win-win-win situation it will create for us all.

Common Craft asks a good question. What is explanation? The list of responses are great to review, and give a solid idea of what people are looking for when they need something clarified. As Einstein once quoted “Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler”. That’s just one example, for more read on. Common Craft Blog.

Well, to start this off. I think it is best to know who CanWea is.

“CanWEA is the voice of the wind energy industry, actively promoting the responsible and sustainable growth of wind power throughout Canada. We serve as Canada’s leading source of credible information about wind energy and its social, economic and environmental benefits and effects.”

The conference itself was extremely informative, and it was an eye opening experience to see all the individuals and industries involved that make wind energy possible. But the major question remains, where do custom videos and multi-media come into all of this? One thing I did take notice of at the conference was the amount of complex graphs and endless text, but limited visually innovative media that gave an overview of wind energy. Such as, where it is currently established at the moment, amount of energy produced through a single turbine, how many homes/businesses it can power, and also the numerous positive but also negative points of wind energy.

The more interesting and humorous part of things was seeing peoples expressions when we introduced what we did. “You do what?” ( Confused facial expression followed). Though after explaining, our reception was tremendous. It made sense to branch out to your potential audience in a fashion that is easy to distribute and can explain a variety of angles in a short and simple Claytorial.

I am no fashion guru from the streets of Stockholm, however I think there is something to be said about how these two relate to one another.

Recently I just read an article about how custom tailored clothing has the ability to beat out a recession. Can the same be said for custom videos? In a time where organizations are making cuts, and pulling back into their shells to weather the economic storm, it is also a top opportunity to stand out from your current competitors by going forth and getting a nicely fashioned tailor made video.

Custom videos are very similar to a well tailored suit, when done properly they meet all your specific needs, custom fit and feel to your tailored cut or company’s image, expressing yourself or brand in stylish manner and most importantly aiding you in standing out from the rest of your competition. Then again, it comes down to who your tailor is and what materials he is using.

In a time of Wikis and Blogs it comes as no surprise that in the realm of 2.0 we have reached the point of ‘how to videos’. Very few people want to search through endless text, when they could just as easily be pointed towards a 1-2 minute tutorial of a custom video explaining the concept in a clear and concise fashion.

“New data from Solutions Research Group’s ongoing “Fast Forward” study of the electronic purchasing habits of 1,000 Canadians… revealed a pronounced shift towards the consumption of professionally produced content on the Internet: it now accounts for more than 80% of online viewing… ‘Clearly, the early ‘cat-on-a-skateboard’ image of online video is changing rapidly.’” (Chris Powell, Marketing Magazine, June 16, 2008)

Have you ever visited a website with a intricate explanation where you wished you could just have a short video explanation to guide you?

The majority of us have, and as the Internet becomes a more complex arena, this is where custom Claytorial videos play their part.
